This workshop is designed to help you understand the hips as the hardworking joints that power your independence, support your weight, and create the foundation for nearly everything you do on and off the mat.
You'll begin by exploring the hip's bony architecture and through guided movement and awareness practices, you'll experience the hip's six primary actions. You will learn why yoga tends to favor certain patterns over others, and what that means for long-term hip health. From there, you'll explore the major muscle groups that move and stabilize the hip and how these muscles work together. More importantly, you'll explore why every body is different—how bone structure, socket orientation, and individual anatomy determine what's accessible for each individual. You will leave with a deeper understanding of how the hips function and practical tools for strengthening and stretching with balance.
This workshop is part of our 200-Hour Teacher Training and is designed for yoga teachers or anyone who is interested in expanding their yoga knowledge and skillset.
